Unsigned Hype!

Billboard has announce that they will be adding a new ranking to their charts called "Uncharted." This new chart will rank artists that are primarily found on the internet. While the artists don't necessarily have to be unsigned, they can't have appeared on any of the other Billboard charsts. Billboard plans to check out many websites such as MySpace, Twitter, as well as YouTube hits to find these upcoming artists. This is such an awesome idea! there are so many people out there who deserve to be on the Billboard charts but havent broken out into mainstream yet. this is the perfect opportunity to allow the fans to really launch their favorite "uncharted" artists into the limelight.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ?UEST LOVE!

I wanna give a birthday shout out to the nastiest fro on the drums, Mr. Quest Love. back in 2009, The roots were playing all summer at the highline ballroom and i copped a ticket not knowing what to expect. I knew that The Roots were a love hip-hop band but i've never actually experienced something so amazing. i went to the show not too long after Michael Jackson had passed away, and i know how much Quest Love was a fan of the Jackson's and MJ's music. i was hoping that somewhere in the night they were pay homage to the King. so i stepped into the venue and got a corona and planted myself in the front row. not even 5 minutes after i got there, Quest comes out and the band starts playing Human Nature. i almost lost it! hearing that song live (although MJ wasnt there to seranade me) was one of my favorite music memories. They played the song for about 10 minutes, just continuous looping of the track with no words. i was speechless. So shouts to you Quest, for making that night so memorable. Happy Born Day!

in 1975 at only 16 years old, Michael Jackson released his 4th solo album entitled "Michael, Forever." I want to share with you a song you may recognize, Jada sampled in in "One More Step", Alicia Keys sampled it in "Almost There" and just recently, the chorus of this song was used on Method Man, Ghostface and Raekwon's "Our Dreams." i LOVE this album title! Travis Barker of Blink 182 will be releasing a debut album this year (hopefully) and i'm so intrigued as to what kind of masterpiece he's going to cook-up...or should i say mash-up? i've read that while he will definitely stay true to his punk pop sound, there will sure be a very hip-hop vibe to it considering some of his collabos include RZA, Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco and Swizz Beatz just to name a few. i've watched a couple videos of Travis just BLACKIN OUT on the drums, i could only imagine what he's gonna do with the likes of this collaborators. SICK!

"Man In The Mirror" was released 23 years ago today!

I can't believe this song is as old as i am and still remains so timeless. "Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson was released 23 years ago on this day! the song stayed at No. 1 for 10 weeks in 1988. Interesting fact, because of his death in 2009 stirring up an interest in MJ's music again, this song topped the charts at No. 2! Music like this will always stand the test of time.
